About Osby and Goinge, nature with forests and lakes
Osby is located in south Sweden, in the middle of Skane’s largest forest. You can explore the wilderness with over a hundred lakes that invite you to discover and make fantastic memories. The municipality consists of, except Osby, the smaller towns Lönsboda and Osby plus the villages Hökön, Visseltofta and Loshult.

Four hundred years ago, the area belonged to Denmark. Osby is located on the former border between the two countries. The farmers, called Snapphanar, was a member of pro-Danish guerrilla organization, auxiliaries or paramilitary troops that fought against the Swedish king in the Second Northern and Scanian Wars. Back then, the forest was a place to hide. Today, the forest is an experience.
Wooden toys, snapphanar and black granite is three of the things Osby’s famous for except the fantastic wilderness and nature.

Osby’s fantastic nature, wild life and nature reserves invite you to many outdoor activities. Osby offers plenty of adventure and activities for solo travellers, couples and families.
You can do hiking, trekking, canoeing, cycling and here’s many lakes for swimming and fishing.
Things to do – Tourism attractions
When you visit Osby, you can take a tour with the Tuff Tuff-train to see the surroundings, have an ice cream by the lake and visit the BRIO toy museum ”Lekoseum”. Take a trip to Svarta Bergen and learn more about the black diabase and take a walk around the magical nature around the old quarry.
You can easily get to Osby by train or car. In the surroundings you’ll find tourist attractions as IKEA museum, IKEA Hotel, Smalandet Moose Safari, Wanås with art exhibitions and outdoor sculpture park, Tykarpsgrottan with a 20 000 m² underground cave.
Shopping in Osby
Osby offers great shopping opportunities. Everything from clothes and accessories to flowers and home decor. Osby also has several flea markets. The shops are unique and here you can find things that cannot be found anywhere else.

Swedish ”Fika”
The Swedish ”Fika” is famous worldwide and means a break with coffee and a cake (often a cinnamon bun). Enjoy this tradition at one of the cafes in Osby’s region. The village also offers a great deal of restaurants.
